BIOGRAPHY

Lorna Dockstader is a contemporary landscape painter who resides in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Known for her strong designs, her artwork focuses on themes of purity and solitude. Her work emphasizes the ability of certain places to evoke a sense of peacefulness, in an unpredictable world. By simplifying, and focusing on only contrasting elements of design, she achieves a serene and contemplative atmosphere in each piece.
Using colours in unique and unexpected combinations, stimulates her creativity, and also engages the viewer.
Since she began exhibiting in galleries, in 1991, she has received significant recognition in the art community. In 1994, she was awarded signature status with distinction by the Pastel Society of Canada (PSC). In 2002, she achieved senior signature status from the Federation of Canadian Artists. In 2006, the National Jury and the PSC Council awarded her the title of Premier Pastellist of Canada.
